October 4, 2013 (Friday) - Mahalaya Amavasya

October 10, 2013 (Thursday) - Maha Sashti (Shashti). 

October 11, 2013 (Friday) - Maha Saptami. 

October 12, 2013 (Saturday) - Maha Ashtami. (Durgastami)

October 13, 2013 (Sunday) - Maha Navami. 

October 14, 2013 (Monday) - Vijayadasami (BijoyaDasami)



Sri Durga Pooja in West Bengal:


In West Bengal, 
Durga pooja pandal can be seen at many places. The process of making pandals and idols of Goddess Durga starts much in advance. 

The Festival starts on Shasthi when Goddess Durga is welcomed to the house of mortals. Durga puja is celebrated in a grand way on Mahalaya, Shasthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Nabomi and BijoyaDashami. 
During these days schools, colleges and government institutions will be declared  as holidays. People will decorate their houses, buy new clothes, play musical instruments, eat and be merry. Chandi Parayan, Pushpanjali, Aarti will be done with great devotion to Goddess Durga.
The function ends with immersion of Goddess Durga idol in rivers, lakes and seas on Dasami (dusherra)
