Best-yet Panchamukhee Durga Utsav
starts 1st October, 2011

Free six-day cultural celebration in Harrow draws visitors from across Britain

People of all cultures from across Britain will attend Durga Utsav 2011 at the Harrow Arts Centre between 1st and 6th October. Panchamukhee Durga Utsav is a major multicultural festival, being held in Harrow for the sixth consecutive year. The 2010 festival was enjoyed by over 9,000 people from all over the country and this year’s looks set to beat all records.

In a letter to Panchamukhee, the Prime Minister David Cameron said “The Panchamukhee Durga Utsav is a wonderful opportunity for showcasing the vibrant cultural heritage of the many Asian communities”. The festival has also received support from the Mayor of London.

The 2011 festival programme at the Harrow Arts Centre provides an exciting mix of artistic and cultural events and occasions at which families of all different communities can come together and experience music, dance, theatre and food that celebrates the cultural mosaic of today’s Britain.

Organiser Saurabh Basu says “Panchamukhee Durga Utsav is about bringing together people from all different backgrounds and communities to share and learn about the cultural diversity in Britain.  This event is a shining example of community cohesion that can be enjoyed by the whole family completely free”.

From this year onwards, Panchamukhee will also felicitate a dignitary from the community with an aim to inspire and motivate the community facing the difficult times. On 2nd October at 17:30 pm, we will felicitate Mr Mihir Bose, an award winning journalist (ex-BBC sports editor, The Sunday Times, The Daily Telegraph) and author of over 25 books, who will also share his thoughts with the attendees.
