The drifting patches of clouds on the azure sky, the mild fragrance of ‘shuili’, the twirl of ‘kash’ with the unimaginable indulge in shopping brings that magical moment at every Bengali’s door. With the rapid change in atmosphere, makes each of us feel the moment which was long awaited. Birenda Nagar Sarbojanin Durgotsav Committee with this spirit in mind is all set for a grand golden jubilee celebration based on the 150th birth anniversary of ‘Kabi Guru, Rabindranath Tagore’. The members of this ‘para puja’ committee are all geared up to make a ‘dhamaka’ with a reverence to our greatest poet.
To invoke the grace of ‘Doshobhuja, Ma Durga’, this North Kolkata Puja Committee will be highlighting the main features of Rabindra Nath Tagore’s various works of art. To celebrate Tagore’s 150th birth anniversary, the committee has arranged plays, dances and songs in form of cultural programs dedicating to our ‘KABI GURU’. It will definitely be a colorful start with the melodies of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, followed by other cultural celebrations.
The artisans Arijit Ambuli and Nantu Pal like the last years are working hard to give a new image to the ‘idol’ and ‘pandal’ with their creativity. Setting beautiful structure of ‘pandal’ with amazing form of art, depicting the deep rooted culture is what they are working with.
Passion of the Puja: The committee arranges for a ‘Dhunuchi Dance Competition’, Audio-visual Antakshari, and Quiz sessions to raise the spirit of Durgotsav amongst the residents. All age groups are invited to take part in these programs. As three ‘Para Pujas’ are settled within a stone’s throw away distance in Dutta Bagan Milk Colony, people from these locality also become a part of this Birenda Nagar Sarbojanin Durgotsav.
Special event: This year they have planned to set the stage on fire by introducing Dj Night. Other cultural events are also on the cards.

Route Guide: Those who are coming by metro can get down at Belgachia Metro station and take a rickshaw to Birendra Nagar. People coming from Laketown can get down at Duttabagan and walk for a minute or two to reach Birenda Nagar Sarbojanin Durgotsav.
