Mudiali is one of South Kolkata’s oldest progressive Durga Pujas and one of the most popular ones as well. But what makes Mudiali different from all others is their enthusiasm to present something unique to janta. Mudiali Sarbajanin Durgatsab is celebrating their 76th anniversary. No big bash theme will be sported this year. To keep up the mood of festivity and celebrate it in the most authentic way they have come up with the idea of welcoming the visitors for Pratima darshan in an auspicious venue. Thus they have put up their mandap in the shape of a Rajasthani mandir with Minekari art worked all over. Mr. Aurobindo Ghosh has taken up the entire task on his shoulders to bring this concept into reality. An extremely traditional Durga Pratima will be rested on the podium, made by Shri. Ashit Pal, son of Shri. Hari Charan Pal of Chandannagar, for the devotees to bow their heads.
The mandir with minekari works will be inaugurated on Chaturthi, 11th October 2010, for the devotees and the visitors.
Cultural Aspect: Not just the time or their innovative Durga puja themes, it is much more for which Mudiali has a place in everyone’s heart. Every year, Durga puja celebration starts with the distribution of new clothes to the poor people. Just after puja Mudiali Club organizes “BIJOYA SAMMELONI” with huge zeal and enthusiasm. 104 FM has been cherishing the golden moments for Mudiali Club. Along with Durgatsab celebrations Mudiali Club observes Rabindra Jayanti every year with pomp and grandeur.
Hall of Fame: Mudiali Durgatsab is a name which is not obliged to mere awards. The name itself is a legend for their work.
Committee for the Society: The committee provides free education to the underprivileged children. They distribute new clothes to the needy ones during Durga puja. Free health and eye check up camps, blood donation camps are organized regularly. The committee provides free thalasemia treatment to the underprivileged people. And that is why Mudiali is enough by its name alone.
